Partnering

PARTNERING: ASI works closely with many organizations to efficiently address common concerns. Projects in which ASI is involved as a partner include the Oakland School District's "Magnet School Program", BASTEC (Bay Area Science and Technology Education Colloquium) - a joint venture of the U.S. Dept. of Energy, Oakland School District, and Community Organizations.

ASI initiated and assisted in establishing African-American science and engineering student organizations at predominantly white schools. These groups later formulated campus organizations. ASI acted as a catalyst to form such organizations by inputting ideas among students, parents, and teachers regarding participation of African-Americans in science and technology. With ASI input, one national student organization was formulated, which now exists throughout the U.S., the now famous National Society of Black Engineers.

Today, ASI  partners with the Oakland Unified School District in presenting Math, Science and Technology Awareness Fair to more than 3,500 children.

Internationally, ASI is involved in African countries, and hopes to shortly be involved in projects in the South Pacific.
