Dr. Yvonne Seon

"Mama Inga"

Dr. Yvonne Seon, Phi Beta Kappa, earned her Ph.D. in African and African-American Humanities. Not only does she speak Lingala and French, Dr. Seon has taught these languages in U.S. universities, along with extensive courses in African and African-American literature and culture. While we are very proud of her academic accomplishments, we are most honored to know her as the Executive Director, responsible for the necessary require-ments leading to the development and construction of the First Inga Dam Project for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa), personally commissioned by his Excellency, Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba. Dr. Seon also serves on the Board of Directors of Africare, a position she has held for 27 years. While achieving high standards, Dr. Seon proudly raised daughter Felicia Chappelle Jones and sons William S. Chappelle and Dave Chappelle.
