  About ASI

The African Scientific Institute (ASI) was founded in 1967. It is a non-profit tax-exempt corporation representing a network of scientists, engineers, technologists, and health professionals, as well as young people who are aspiring to enter the world of science and technology.

ASI Objectives

Expose and motivate more minorities to pursue careers in science and technology • Foster the professional development of its network of scientists and technologists, as well as their participation in their communities • Develop, organize and provide study, tutoring and counseling centers and other facilities and programs for use by young people • Develop programs and projects to help solve problems in developing countries, with emphasis on healthcare, economic development, technology transfer and the development of appropriate sustainable technologies • Develop laboratories for technical professionals who have ideas and talent, but are without resources to develop them.

The various disciplines of science and technology are becoming more inter-related. ASI, as an interdisciplinary organization, is a forum for the exchange of technical information and expertise.

ASI Fellows Program

Through our ASI Fellows Program, we are actively engaged in furthering the development of a network of scientists and technologists among African Americans and internationally throughout the African Diaspora. ASI Fellows is a collective which shares experiences, contacts and knowledge. We consider these individuals as superstars in the world of science and technology. They are a unique group of noted individuals with boundless potential and are always organic. We want people, especially our youth, to know that individuals exist who exemplify excellence.

We are excited about the progress of this program. We now have a network of ASI Fellows that span through 11 countries.

If you are a qualified person who has significantly contributed to developments in science and technology, or know someone who meet such qualifications, go to our website at:  and complete the necessary documents to start the process of becoming an ASI Fellow.

Africa

ASI staff and volunteers are engaging interests in Africa in areas of healthcare, landmine clearing, and a bridge construction project. We are in initial stages of these projects and will keep you abreast of developments as they occur.

James Hope and Lee Cherry visits with U.S. Ambassador to the Congo, while ASI was working on one of its projects.
