Dr. Bobby L. Wilson, Ph.D. Bobby L. Wilson, whose illustrious tenure at Texas Southern University spans more than thirty years, is a noted academician and leader in higher education. As provost, Dr. Wilson directs the academic affairs and Student Services of the university. Dr. Wilson also serves as the L. Lloyd Woods Distinguished Professor of Chemistry. He received his chemistry degrees from Alabama State College (B.S.), Southern University (M.S.) and Michigan State University (Ph.D.). Dr. Wilson has served in numerous capacities at Texas Southern including professor and chair of the Chemistry Department, vice president of academic affairs and associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, vice president for academic affairs, and acting president. His broad base of experience includes visiting research professor at Exxon Research and Engineering and program director of the National Science Foundation. He has published over sixty scholarly manuscripts in national and international journals. Dr. Wilson is the co-author of two books: General Chemistry Laboratory Manuals I and II and holds two patents. Of particular note is his commitment to close the gap and facilitate the increase in minority students within the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields through the Houston Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in which he provides leadership as the Co-principal Investigator. Globally recognized as an opinion leader within the science field, Dr. Wilson has presented scholarly treatises throughout the world. |
