Dr. David S. Summers, M.D. Dr. Summers served as Assistant Chief of Neurology at the Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Germany, 1964-67. Medical Staff appointments at Williamsburg Community & Maguire VA Hospitals followed his discharge from USAR active military duties, and he was Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Strong Memorial Hospital, 1967-72. He was recruited to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, where he was Assistant Professor of Neurology & Electroencephalographer, 1972-76, then began a private neurology practice in NW Pennsylvania with admitting & consulting privileges at St. Vincent, Hamot, Veterans Administration, Millcreek, & Doctors Osteopathic Medical Centers in Erie, and at the Meadville Medical Center & Warren State Hospital. Dr. Summers has been very active in civic and community activities, including the Human Rights Campaign, stem-cell, spinal cord & pain research, the Schomberg Center at the NY Public Library. He is the author of medical publications and a contributing author to The Black Humanist Experience, 2003. He has been Director of the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Assn of NW PA & support of the Planetary Society, Menninger Society, Nat. Committee for Science Edu, NY Academy of Sciences, AAAS, ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church & State. |
