Ms. Norma M. Sklarek, FAIA The first African American woman registered as an architect in the U.S. She is one of only 43 female architects in over a century to have been named FELLOW by the American Institute of Architects and the only African American female so honored. Projects to her credit include a 360,000 sq.ft. passenger terminal at Los Angeles International Airport; Oakdale Shopping Mall in Minneapolis, MN; Park Center Commercial Complex, San Jose, CA; Financial Plaza of the Pacific, Honolulu, HI; and the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. Has taught for several years at UCLA on the graduate architectural staff. Served as Commissioner to the Calif. Board of Architectural Examiners and as Master Juror for NCARB, grading architectural design and site planning exams. |
