Mr. Cordell Reed
Ret'd Vice Pres., Utility Co., Fossil & Nuclear Fuel

Mr. Reed was responsible for the Fuel Department which which purchases fuel for the company and spends $800 million dollars annually on coal, natural gas, oil and nuclear fuel. He was also the Ethics Officer with overall responsibility for the Corporate Ethics Program. Additionally, he is the Chief Diversity Officer responsible for the Corporate Diversity Management activities. Earlier, he had the opportunity to work as a mechanical engineer on the start-up of the Dresden nuclear power plant, which was the largest nuclear plant in the world at the time. In this position, he first learned nuclear physics, health physics and reactor operations and the taught the personnel who operated the units. Mr. Reed went on to head the Company's Nuclear Engineering Department where he managed a group of over one hundred Engineers who were responsible for the engineering activities for the nuclear generating units. In 1987 he was appointed Senior Vice President for Nuclear Operations which included the overall corporate responsibility for the operation, maintenance, engineering and technical support for the Company's twelve nuclear generating units. Of the six thousand employees that worked in his area, 1500 were Engineers or had other technical related degrees.
