Now retired, he has worked in most facets associated with poultry husbandry--- from poultry farm operator (general farm work) to researcher in poultry production and marketing. He has performed laboratory research on egg shell quality, served as egg and poultry inspector to enforce fresh egg laws and to ensure the wholesomeness of poultry. As a Senior Agricultural Economics Service Representative for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Dr. Henson performed economic analysis of egg and poultry sectors and poultry and egg supply, demand and price analysis for the U.S. Northeast Region. From 1967 - the present, he was an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics. Twenty-two technical research bulletins or journal articles in the area of poultry and egg economics have been authored or co-authored by Dr. Henson. He contributed to seven major U.S. Department of Agriculture task force reports as a poultry and egg specialist. Until his recent retirement, Dr. Henson was Assistant to the Dean, College of Agricultural Sciences, Pennsylvania State University. In this position he was charged with graduate student recruitment and served as the Director of Minority Programs in the College of Agricultural Sciences. |
