Dr. Jim Harris, Ph.D.
Nuclear Chemist and Researcher

PASSED AWAY in DEC' 2000. Recently retired from one of the Nation Laboratories, as Assistant Division Head, Engineering and Technical Services. While working in his laboratory, he achieved the development and application of Germanium Semi-Conducting Detector Techniques to Neutron Activation Analysis. He became quite famous as Co-Discoverer of heavy manmade chemical elements 104 and 105. Headed the lab's Heavy Isotopes production group. Also, while serving in this group, he was responsible for the control and handling of large quantities of radioactive products, as well as the principal investigator of the actinide elements.
