Chemist, State University Regent Emeritus Regent Emeritus of NY area comprised of the counties of Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates. He began his career as a research chemist at Eastman Kodak's Research Laboratories in 1956. He was promoted to Senior Research Chemist in 1961, Research Associate in 1966, and to the rank of Technical Staff Associate in 1981. Afterwards, Regent Cooper was appointed Manager of the Office of Technical Communications at Kodak's Research Laboratories in 1985. In this position, he was responsible for the supervision of the publications and technical reports of 2,300 Eastman Kodak scientific and research personnel. Additionally, Dr. Cooper managed a special Office of (research) Innovation. Dr. Cooper has published papers in the fields of physical chemistry and the chemistry of photographic film and is the holder of three patents. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986. Besides holding numerous honors and awards, writing in several technical journals, and belonging to several professional organizations, Regent Cooper has a life-long volunteer service to the Rochester community, which includes that of Associate Director of the Rochester and Monroe County Anti-Poverty program, a founding member of the Rochester Urban League, Rochester Area Foundation, and the Genesee Regional Health Service Agency. |
