Plant Genomics

Dr. Conner was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Georgia in the Botany Department until 1990 when he accepted the position as Senior Research Biologist at Monsanto Company in the Plant Gene Expression Group, part of the Corporate Research's R&D in the New Products Division.. Since 1990, Conner has been involved in a number of research and development projects as a research scientist, project leader, program and team leader, and director for gene discovery and expression, and structural and functional genomics. Throughout his career, he has worked on a number of agronomic, quality, and enabling technology projects covering a variety of crops including corn, and soybean.  He was more recently Vice President of Oilseeds and Food Technology where his division was responsible for.strategy, project advancement, technology portfolio management through product launch of many biotech products.  Currently, Conner is Vice President and Technology Lead for Latin America.  Conner sees advances in biotechnology and genetic engineering as the only realistic solution for a majority of the food and environmental issues that man will face.
