Mr. Hamilton V. Bowser, Sr.
Civil Engineering, Construction Co. Executive

Founded in 1968, of one of the largest black-owned general construction contracting, construction management and engineering design-build firms in the U.S. and provided engineering services as Bowser Engineers and Associates. Mr. Bowser is a national spokesman on minorities in construction and procurement issues. Past President of the National Association of Minority Contractors, he received the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Advocacy Award for small and minority business development. His completed projects have included manufacturing facilities, commercial offices, hospital and laboratory, multi-family residential buildings, water treatment plant and chemical plant contracts. His company has provided construction management services for a $570 million dollar sewage treatment plant; 3,500 car garage; 2,400 bed prison; churches, recreation facilities and high rise apartments. Prior to 1968, Mr. Bowser was a structural and project engineer for a large New Jersey consulting firm, where he advanced to Vice President, Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states. With his brother Edward, R.A., he designed radiant heated chick hatcheries in Ghana that increased chick survival from 40% to above 90%. Mr. Bowser has more than 25 years of alternate dispute resolution experience as an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association Construction panel that arbitrates claims up $10,000,000. Mr. Bowser is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was a Local Chapter President in East Orange, NJ. He served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Regional Plan Association (NY, NJ, CT); Vice Chair of the Regional Alliance of Small Contractors (NY, NJ); Board of Trustees Member of New Jersey Institute of Technology; and was Chair of the Mayor's Task Force on Newark Economic Development in Newark, NJ.
