![]() Ms. Donna Auguste Co-founder of Freshwater Software, Inc. (acquired for $147 million in 2001), is an extraordinary computer scientist. In 1984, she worked for Intellicorp, a Silicon Valley start-up that was part of the rush to commercialize "expert systems", artificial intelligence programs that were emerging from research labs. Ms. Auguste then joined Apple computer, where she managed the elite team of programmers who helped create the industry’s first PDA, Apple’s pen-based/hand-held computer called the Newton. In 1996 Ms. Auguste co-founded Freshwater Software in Boulder, Colorado. Her team developed a product called SiteScope which is used by systems administrators who manage Internet and Intranet Web servers. Ms. Auguste is also a devoted Christian and musician. She plays bass guitar and piano. After Freshwater was acquired, Ms Auguste devoted more of her time to her non-profit Global Outreach organization, Leave a Little Room Foundation (www.LeaveaLittleRoom.org), installing solar electricity and building schools in African villages, and building hospitals and houses in Mexico. She does research in robotics and renewable energy resources, and plans to publish her first novel in 2008. Ms. Auguste is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. |
