Mr. James E. Allen
Ret'd Mgr., JPL Lab Space Flight Operations Facility

DECEASED, Jan' 2001. Retired manager of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Space Flight Operations Facility (SFOF) wass responsible for providing for the maintenance and operation of the SFOF environmental and utility equipment in support of Space Flight Mission Operations. Professionally, Jim has been employed in almost forty years of progressive engineering and management experience from aeronautical engineering to mechanical engineering; from electrical engineering to computer science; and from marketing to technical management. Over the last thirty five years, Jim has been a pioneer in the Space Exploration program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory since the late fifties and has worked on the design and development of space craft with missions to the Moon, the Planet and beyond. He was Operations Project Engineer for Worldwide Deep Space Tracking Station in support of the space flight missions to Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn. He was involved with the Europeans in their Giotto mission to Halley's Comet and the planned Ulysses mission over the poles of the Sun.
